a little的用法
[一號檔案] a little 用作代詞,在句中可作主語或賓語.如：
— Would you like some meat ?請你吃些肉好嗎?
— Just a little. 來一點兒吧.
[二號檔案] a little 用作形容詞時,用來修飾不可數名詞,表示肯定意義,意為“一點兒”;如果只用 little 修飾不可數名詞,則表示否定意義,意為“幾乎沒有”.如：
There is little milk in his glass. 他的玻璃杯里幾乎沒有牛奶.
[三號檔案] a little 作副詞時,可修飾動詞,也可修飾形容詞或副詞,以及形容詞或副詞的比較級,表示程度.如：
( 1 ) That child moved a little. 那小孩移動了一點兒.(修飾動詞)
( 2 ) I am a little thirsty. 我有點兒渴.(修飾形容詞)
( 3 ) The taxi is going a little faster than the tractor.

[特別檔案]使用 a little 時還應注意以下問題：
1. a little 與 a bit 意思雖相同,它們修飾形容詞時沒有區別,但 a little 可直接修飾名詞, a bit 則要后加 of 才能修飾名詞.如：
I'm a little / a bit thirsty now. And I want to have a little / a bit of tea. 我現在有點兒渴了,想喝點兒茶.
2. not a little 意為“很、非?！?相當于 very ;但“ not a bit = not … at all (根本不)”.如：
Bill is not a little thin. 比爾非常瘦.
Bill is not a bit thin. 比爾根本不瘦.
3. quite a little 意為“很多”,相當于 much ,而不是“很少”.如：
There's quite a little food on the table. = There's much food on the table.
桌子上有很多食物.
4. a little 若后接單數可數名詞時,意為“一個小的……”.如：
There is a little girl under the tree. 樹下有一個小女孩.
little與a little用法辨析
little 與 a little 用法特點是，兩者都只用于修飾或代替不可數名詞，其中little形式上肯定，意義上是否定的，其意為“很少”“幾乎沒有”;a little 表示肯定意義，其意為“幾個”“一些” 。如：
I have little money and few interests. 我沒有什么錢，也沒有什么愛好 。
I have a little money in the bank to fall back on. 我在銀行還有一點錢，需要時可以動用 。
但是，當little前使用了特指限定詞(如定冠詞、物主代詞等)，則不表否定意義 。如：
The little I have is not worth giving. 我那一點點拿不出手 。
I hope the little that I’ve done has been useful. 我希望我所做的一點事情是有用的 。
She paid them a generous wage for the little they did. 她為他們的那么一點工作付了很高的工資 。
注意，not a little的意思不是“很少”，而是“不少”或“相當多”，它與quite a little, a good little大致同義 。如：
